It is with great honour that I announce, officially, that mangia che ti fa bene bimbo has been appointed as the new Italian Ambassador for Meatless Monday Campaign.
As they start on their “History” About us on the website: “Meatless Monday is not a new idea. During World War I, the U.S. Food Administration urged families to reduce consumption of key staples to aid the war effort. “Food Will Win the War,” the government proclaimed, and “Meatless Monday” and “Wheatless Wednesday” were introduced to encourage Americans to do their part. The effect was overwhelming; more than 13 million families signed a pledge to observe the national meatless and wheatless conservation days.”
It has already celebrated over ten years since it got back on in 2003 by former ad man turned health advocate Sid Lerner, whom I had the pleasure of meeting back in March during TEDxManhattan in NYC, in association with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for a Livable Future.

With all the amazing potential we have in Italy when it comes to food and all the fantastic farmers markets with their fresh vegetables, the rice culture and lately mostly used the variety of mediteranean grains it has been introduced in the Italian homes, we can make a great example of recipes and ideas on how to spread the positive philosophy that meatless monday has behind.
I invite everyone, foodie and not, around Italy to contact me with your if you are interested in representing your region as a meatless monday volunteer!
Happy Monday everyone!
